The Chryston & Muirhead Business Community has been running now since 2013 and Soave’s has been one of the many local business’s who have been part of the group since its inception. The group meets once per month and is a forum for local business owners to meet each other, discuss issues affecting local business’s and share their knowledge and expertise.
Recently the group also threw it’s weight behind 8 local ‘good causes’ giving them each a donation of £250 each to help support their ongoing activities and to allow them the opportunity to expand their offering.
One of the recipients was the Special Olympics Scotland West team member, James Fleming who has been selected to participate and represent Scotland West within the football team which he has also been chosen to Captain. Soave’s General Manager, Valerie Adam was delighted to be part of the group from the CMBC who were presenting James with his cheque. Speaking about the group’s donation Valerie Adam said “The CMBC were delighted to be in a position to support James and we wish him all the best in Sheffield and hope he comes home with a medal”.
The Special Olympics Great Britain is open to all people with intellectual (learning) difficulties regardless of their ability. Chris Maloney MBE founded the Special Olympics in Great Britain in 1978 and now it is run by over 4,000 volunteers and involves up to 8,000 athletes within the UK. In 2017 the special Olympics National Summer Games will be held in Sheffield from the 7-12th August. It will be the biggest sporting event in Britain for 2017 and Special Olympics Scotland West is taking a team of 296 athletes and coaches. To attend all these competitions the athletes and coaches have to fundraise.
